Our business has been working with vehicles for the entire time that it has been operating. We began small and gradually grew from there. These days, we specialise in various areas, including the supply of car covers. They work to keep your vehicle safe from things like dust, dirt, and moisture. As a result they are a great investment.
One thing that customers often ask is whether outdoor car covers come with a soft inner lining. The thought process is that this lining is going to be gentle on the paint. In other words, it is not going to scratch it. With exterior car covers however, soft linings are not the best thing to have. If you are wondering why, allow us to explain.
The issues at hand
For one thing, anything soft is going to attract and hold micro dirt particles. These will be so small that you won’t be able to notice them. At the same time though, they will be big enough to mark a car cover with enough time. Eventually, it will become impossible for you to remove them.
In addition, any heavy air and damp moving through the breathable fabric shall make your soft lining wet in due time. The lining is going to stay wet too. Think of a damp sweatshirt comprised of fleecy materials that is hanging on your washing line. It might take days to dry. If this happens it means the wet material will spend all that time touching your car. This could damage the paint and metalwork.
Less room to breathe
What’s more, a soft inner lining is going to restrict the cover’s capacity to breathe. This effect will be even greater if there is a polyurethane outer present. It is possible to see these kinds of covers with thick fleecy inners causing issues for owners all the time. For this reason, it is preferable not to use them outside.
Therefore, preferably the interior should be non-woven. Alternatively, it needs to be smooth or brushed. It can’t be fleecy in any way either or else dirt is going to cling to it. Most importantly however, your car covers need to have an incredibly good fit.
